Year 5 Autumn 2 Timetable

Hello all and welcome to the second half of autumn term. Your children have already been working really hard which we know will continue this half term.

Below is Year 5’s autumn 2 timetable. This is applicable for all 3 classes:

Autumn 2 Timetable Year 5

Please be aware that some lessons may change times throughout the week depending on the needs of the classes. On some occasions, the day on which a non-core subject is taught may change depending on the needs of the classes. We have listed when teacher’s are on their PPA. There may be times where teachers are also away from class for training.

Forest School and PE

Forest School for Autumn 1 (until Christmas holidays) will be 5P. Please note that 5O have one final session on Monday 8th November. Therefore, this will count towards 1 hour of their PE time for the week. They will complete their P4C/PSHCE on a Friday afternoon whilst 5GJ and 5P have PE. There will be other opportunities throughout the week for either a structured PE lesson or active learning (for example: daily mile, just dance, etc).

Please make sure your child has their PE kit in on the days PE is listed on the timetable.

As always, please talk to us if you need any further clarification on anything timetabled.

Many thanks,

Miss Osmond, Mrs Potts, Mrs Green & Mrs Jones (and the wider team)

5O Fantastic Homework

Miss Osmond has been BLOWN away by the amount of effort 5O has given their homework this week.

They were tasked with creating their own 3D setting description (if they could). The results from both 3D and 2D drawings are amazing. They should all feel incredibly proud.

Well done 5O – we all enjoyed reviewing them during our homework review forum today!

Keep it up 🙂

Using Drama in Maths!

Today, 5O (and the rest of year 5) took part in some maths drama!

They had to work in small groups to act out a ‘skit’ which involved reading large numbers aloud – we had some up to a billion!

The class pretended to be news readers, Formula 1 pundits and talent show hosts. There were amazing team work and acting skills on display! They also used topical news items, like presidential elections. Very impressed!

Accelerated Reader Quiz Log In

We encourage children to complete their accelerated reader quizzes at home where they can. They will, of course, be given this opportunity in school time too. Ideally, your child should be reading 20 minutes a night. It’s even better if you can listen to them read but we understand this isn’t always possible.

Please use this QR code to access accelerated reader. Your child needs to log in using their Star Reader log in and select the button that says ‘accelerated reader’ when they are in.

5O’s Fab Forest School

5O are lucky enough to be the class going first with their Forest School sessions this academic year. Thanks Mr H!

On Monday, the children showed great enthusiasm for the session and it was great to see them building dens (and using the cuddly sheep as mascots!) They also worked well as teams and used their creativity and imagination when playing.

We are all looking forward to next week!

Year 5 English Wow event!

To introduce our JOURNEY unit, Year 5 received a letter from the one and only Robin Hood. He desperately needed our help to find the stolen teacher codes for the ‘Dojo Points’. We had to follow the clues and JOURNEY around the school. We came up against a PROBLEM because we could not enter the Year 6 classroom. But luckily enough one of the Year 6 Teaching Assistants, Mrs Westmore, helped us by reading the clue. We finally solved all the clues and found the missing teacher codes.

We had to work as a team to solve the clues, persevere to overcome a problem and take care as we travelled around the school.
